Mt. Manaslu (8163m) is the 8th highest peak in the world located in the western part of Nepal. It is located near to the border of Nepal alongside Tibet. Manaslu Trek in under restricted area for travelling so, required special permit. Manaslu trekking is one renowned Trekking destination and it was open for Trekking since 1991 A.D.
Geographically diverse and challenging region Manaslu is full of Snowcapped Himalayas like Mt. Manslu, Himchuli, NgadiChuli, Dhaulagiri, Larke peak, etc. Delightful adventure with unspoiled Trail Manaslu is rich in varieties of Flora and Fauna. Musk Dear, Blue sheep, Langoor monkey, snow Leopard, Mangoos might be seen in the area. Medicinal herbs, varieties of Rhododendron are found.

Sample Itinerary for the Manaslu Larkya Pass Trek (17 to 20 days)

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Activity: Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel, and rest.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

  • Activity: Explore Kathmandu’s cultural sites (e.g., Swayambhunath, Durbar Square) and prepare for the trek.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Arughat

  • Activity: Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat (approx. 7-8 hours). The drive is scenic, with views of rivers and terraced fields.

Day 4: Arughat to Soti Khola (815m)

  • Activity: Trek from Arughat to Soti Khola (approx. 6-7 hours) through picturesque villages and lush forests.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Soti Khola.

Day 5: Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m)

  • Activity: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (approx. 6-7 hours) along the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through small villages.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Machha Khola.

Day 6: Machha Khola to Jagat (1370)

  • Activity: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (approx. 6-7 hours), a beautiful village with traditional stone houses and scenic views.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Jagat.

Day 7: Jagat to Deng (1860m)

  • Activity: Trek from Jagat to Deng (approx. 6-7 hours) through terraced fields and forests, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Deng.

Day 8: Deng to Namrung (2540m)

  • Activity: Trek from Deng to Namrung (approx. 6-7 hours), where you’ll start to see more Tibetan-influenced culture and architecture.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Namrung.

Day 9: Namrung to Lho (3148m)

  • Activity: Trek from Namrung to Lho (approx. 4-5 hours) through forested trails and small villages. Enjoy spectacular views of Manaslu and surrounding peaks.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Lho.

Day 10: Lho to Sama Gaon (3517m)

  • Activity: Trek from Lho to Sama Gaon (approx. 4-5 hours). Sama Gaon is a large village with stunning views of Manaslu and an opportunity to visit the nearby Pungyen Monastery.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Sama Gaon.

Day 11: Acclimatization Day in Sama Gaon

  • Activity: Spend the day acclimatizing in Sama Gaon. You can explore the village, hike to the Manaslu Base Camp, or visit nearby viewpoints.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Sama Gaon.

Day 12: Sama Gaon to Samdo (3738m)

  • Activity: Trek from Sama Gaon to Samdo (approx. 4-5 hours). Samdo is a small Tibetan-style village with beautiful mountain views.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Samdo.

Day 13: Samdo to Dharmasala (Larkya Phedi) (4480m)

  • Activity: Trek from Samdo to Dharmasala (approx. 4-5 hours). This is the base camp for crossing the Larkya Pass.

Day 14: Cross Larkya Pass-5125m to Bimtang (3890m)

  • Activity: Early morning start to cross Larkya Pass (5,160m) (approx. 8-10 hours). The pass offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Descend to Bimtang.
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Bimtang.

Day 15: Bimtang to Ghuwa

Day 16: Ghuwa to Dharapani

Day 17: Drive back to Besisahar

  • Drive to Besisahar (approx. 1.5 hours).
  • Accommodation: Lodge in Besisahar.

Day 18: Besisahar to Pokhara

  • Activity: Drive from Besisahar to Pokhara (approx. 6-7 hours) or take a flight if available.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Pokhara.

Day 19: Pokhara to Kathmandu

  • Activity: Fly or drive back to Kathmandu (flight is about 25 minutes; drive is approx. 6-7 hours). Enjoy your last evening in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Departure

  • Activity: Transfer to the airport for your departure.

Notes:

  • Permits: You’ll need a Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) and a Restricted Area Permit (RAP). These must be arranged through a registered trekking agency.

  • Weather: The best times for this trek are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is typically clear and stable.
